There so much buzz about finding Balance and being Grounded. But what does that mean actually? This is a snippet of my multi-part journey to finding balance.
Don’t worry, I won’t be going into a deep deep dive into Chakras, Energy Aligning, Kundalini and all the variances of Eastern vs Western beliefs because there is so much out there. I have studied and studied and still feel that sometimes I still don’t know shit. There are a thousand books, apps, websites available that give information, a billion meditations, crystal monthly boxes and everything else you can think of.
As with any type of information you share with the world, there will always be people that will give you their opinion / critique based on what they have learned. This blurb isn’t for you if you know it already, but if you’re just starting out to learn about energy or maybe you’ve been doing it for a while and you realize that the same things keep happening over and over again and want to genuinely figure out why, then let’s chat. I sit here with you like two friends meeting up for lunch, coffee or bottomless mimosas. I sit with you as Gossip (n) – look it up, it didn’t start being a negative thing until the 15/1600s. I sit with you to share some of things I did and why I did it.
Before you get into this, I will let you know that I used John and AI to proof and edit everything but not to change/be my voice. I have a habit of squirreling topics, using too many run on sentences and foul language. With the help of both, you should have a pretty good PG13 read.
Let’s start off with the basics first. This is Part 1. This is where I get “Matter of Factly”
Understanding Energy Centers: What They Are and Why Balance Matters
In today's fast-paced world, many people are searching for ways to feel more grounded, centered, and connected to themselves. While nourishing our physical bodies is important, holistic wellness recognizes that our emotional, mental, and energetic well-being also play a vital role in how we feel each day. One of the most ancient systems for understanding this energetic aspect of wellness is the concept of energy centers, often referred to as chakras.
What Are Energy Centers?
The word chakra comes from Sanskrit and translates to "wheel" or "disk." These energy centers are believed to be spinning vortices of life-force energy located throughout the body. According to ancient traditions, they influence our physical health, emotional balance, spiritual growth, and overall vitality.
There are 114 chakras, but we are going to focus on the 7 primary energy centers aligned along the spine, beginning at the base and extending to the crown of the head. Each center is associated with specific qualities, emotions, and areas of life. Colors that are attached to each chakra are a modern western addition so, for now, we won’t be going into details about that or crystal / minerals.
Root Chakra (Muladhara)
Located at the base of the spine, the Root Chakra is connected to feelings of safety, security, stability, and grounding. When balanced, we feel supported and confident in our foundation.
Sacral Chakra (Svadhisthana)
Located below the navel, this center governs creativity, passion, pleasure, and emotional expression. A balanced Sacral Chakra encourages joy, inspiration, and healthy relationships.
Solar Plexus Chakra (Manipura)
Situated above the navel, the Solar Plexus Chakra is associated with personal power, confidence, motivation, and self-worth. Balance here helps us trust ourselves and take inspired action.
Heart Chakra (Anahata)
Located in the center of the chest, the Heart Chakra is the bridge between the physical and spiritual energy centers. It governs love, compassion, forgiveness, and emotional healing.
Throat Chakra (Vishuddha)
The Throat Chakra influences communication, self-expression, and truth. When balanced, we speak authentically and listen with intention.
Third Eye Chakra (Ajna)
Positioned between the eyebrows, this energy center is associated with intuition, wisdom, and inner vision. A balanced Third Eye Chakra enhances clarity and spiritual awareness.
Crown Chakra (Sahasrara)
Located at the top of the head, the Crown Chakra represents our connection to higher consciousness, divine wisdom, and spiritual purpose.
Why Is Balance Important?
Just as our bodies function best when all systems work together harmoniously, our energy centers are believed to thrive when energy flows freely throughout them. Stress, emotional challenges, negative thought patterns, and life's daily pressures can create energetic imbalances that may leave us feeling disconnected, overwhelmed, or out of alignment.
When energy centers are balanced, many people experience:
While energetic imbalance may manifest differently for everyone, common signs can include fatigue, emotional overwhelm, lack of motivation, difficulty communicating, or feeling disconnected from oneself.
Supporting Energy Balance Naturally
Creating energetic balance does not have to be complicated. Small daily rituals can help nurture both body and spirit.
Essential oils have long been used to support emotional and energetic wellness. Their aromatic properties can encourage grounding, relaxation, focus, or upliftment depending on the botanical blend.
Quiet moments of reflection allow us to reconnect with ourselves and become more aware of where we may need healing, attention, or rest.
Many wellness practitioners use crystals as symbolic tools for intention setting and energetic support. Stones such as amethyst, rose quartz, citrine, and selenite are often incorporated into spiritual practices focused on balance and harmony.
Reiki and other energy-based modalities are designed to encourage the free flow of life-force energy throughout the body, promoting relaxation and overall energetic well-being.
Simple acts such as bathing with botanical ingredients, applying nourishing body oils, lighting a candle, or practicing gratitude can become powerful rituals that support energetic alignment and mindfulness.
